What is Moving Forward TBI Support Group?

We are a social support group for adults with brain injury in Greeley, Colorado. Our group originated with the survivors at the Stephens Brain Injury Campus. We have now expanded to include all interested survivors of brain injury in the Greeley area and are affiliated with the Brain Injury Association of Colorado. Our goal is to move forward socially through recreation, education, community involvement and mutual support.

When and where do we meet?

We meet every Monday evening at 6:00pm at the Stephens Brain Injury Campus:  2774 Reservoir Road in Greeley, CO.

Meeting Schedule

1st Monday: Recreation Monday (Casino Night, Bingo, Domino Tourney, etc)

2nd Monday: Education (Anatomy of the Brain, Brain Function, Behavior and Mood, TBI Trust Fund, Speakers, etc.)

3rd Monday: Pizza Night (We meet at 5:00pm at CiCi’s Pizza 2170 35th Ave for the pizza and pasta buffet - pay on your own).

4th Monday: Open Forum/Business Mtg

Why Attend A Support Group Meeting?

The purpose of a support group is sharing with and supporting one another for the mutual benefit of the whole group. Some essential elements of a support group are:

1. sharing of oneself
2. sensing others care
3. active, involved listening to others and being heard by them
4. meeting and accepting the needs of others
5. receiving and giving an opportunity to really be understood
6. providing an atmosphere where positive and negative views can be expressed without being judged or labeled
7. a two-way street, both giving and receiving among members
8. awareness of common needs and strengths
9. an opportunity to get in touch with oneself
10. a place to find courage and to take risks
